When Dreams Come True

When Dreams Come True

Today is the launch of a young adult novel by a delightful writer friend of mine: Rebecca Emin. When Dreams Come True is Rebecca’s second novel and follows thirteen-year-old Charlie.

Rebecca’s first novel, New Beginnings, is a corker. A twelve-year-old friend of my son loved it; as I did, and I predict that When Dreams Come True will be equally charming. The importance of dreaming is a powerful theme and if I’ve understood Rebecca correctly I’m now supposed to tell you about my dreams.

I’d love to relate an anecdote about how a dream inspired a novel, or story, – these things do happen; that’s where Elizabeth Haynes debut Into the Darkest Corner originated – but I can’t. Truth is, those dreams I do recall are barmy; I mean crazy, barmy, bonkers MENTAL: wisps of cloud that kill entire families, beige parrots that incubate their young in human stomachs (mine), but most of my dreams are plain boring. Something Rebecca Emin’s writing definitely isn’t. Found out more about the book, Rebecca and her adult work by following the links below.

When Dreams Come True

Charlie is happiest when biking with Max and Toby, or watching films with Allie. But when Charlie reaches year nine, everything begins to change. As her friends develop new interests, Charlie’s dreams become more frequent and vivid, and a family crisis tears her away from her friends. How will Charlie react when old family secrets are revealed? Will her life change completely when some of her dreams start to come true?
